Children’s Books That Help Children Heal, Grow, and Feel Seen
Heartfelt stories that help families talk about grief, imagination, resilience, and what makes each child unique.

Heartfelt stories that help families talk about grief, imagination, resilience, and what makes each child unique.

Hi, I’m Lianne Totty. I write children’s books that help families talk about life’s biggest emotions with honesty, warmth, and hope.
I began writing these stories after experiencing the loss of my own baby and realizing how difficult it can be to explain grief to children. Through my books, I hope to help families navigate conversations about loss, love, imagination, resilience, and what makes every child beautifully unique.
Some of my stories gently help children understand grief and loss. Others celebrate creativity, courage, and the many wonderful ways children experience the world.
I believe stories can do something powerful. They can comfort children when their hearts are hurting, open meaningful conversations within families, and remind every child that they are deeply loved.
Whether you're a parent, caregiver, teacher, or someone searching for the right book for a child you care about, I’m so glad you’re here.
I hope you find a story here that brings comfort, connection, and hope.

The author is a personal friend of mine and I applaud her for her courage in sharing her story and finding a way for others to share theirs. This is definitely not an easy thing to go through or explain to little ones. It's a must for parents who are struggling with this very issue.

I absolutely love this book! I don’t have kids of my own but I know of many families who’ve experienced loss. This is the perfect book for those families. The loss of a child is probably one of the hardest things a couple can go through. This book helps you come to grip with that loss. It’s also perfect to help explain the loss to a sibling.
Parents, counselors, and educators use Lianne Totty’s books to help children understand difficult emotions in a safe and supportive way.
These stories provide language for conversations that can feel impossible; helping children process grief, celebrate who they are, and imagine bright futures.
After battling infertility for 10 years with Poly cystic ovarian syndrome or PCOS, today's guest delivered her baby at 27 weeks, spent 6 months in the Neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) and lost her baby. Lianne Totty, went on to have another baby at 25 weeks who also spent time in the NICU and is now thriving. Her experience led her to writing her children's book “Baby went to Heaven” to help explain infant loss to children when her god daughter asked her where the baby was and she didn’t know what to tell her. In this episode she takes us back to being diagnosed with PCOS, getting weight loss surgery, NICU experience, and PTSD from birth experiences. We discuss about feeling like your body has failed you and that you are being punished by not being able to bring a baby home.⠀
